Head lice don't take summer off! Camps and sleepovers increase the chances of head lice. Specifically, DIRECT head to head contact increases head lice. Encourage your children to wear their hair up, ponytails, braids, etc. As an added precaution, buy your child their own ball helmet. Check your child's head at least once a week. Please read the following article from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Be responsible, notify any contacts your child has had. https://www.healthychildren.org/English/health-issues/conditions/from-insects-animals/Pages/Signs-of-Lice.aspx

Our K-6th grade students are reading and discussing books that cover these issues. They have started out with Robert Munich’s “The Paper Bag Princess”, where they have learned that a princess doesn’t always need a prince to come save her...sometimes, she can do it all by herself!
