Link to downloadable PDF letter and schedule is HERE
Dear Parents and Students,
Summer Driver Education will begin on May 31st at 8:00 a.m. To be eligible to attend a student must be 14 years old by June 1st, be promoted from the 8th grade to 9th grade, and be in good standing with the school. Driver Education consists of 30 classroom hours with 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Each student must attend 10 classroom sessions and pass each test given with an 80% or better. You may miss 1 classroom session only; more than one absence will result in being dropped out of the class. 2 or more tardies will also result in expulsion from Driver Education. Friday June 16th is our make-up day. Make sure to check over the dates of classroom sessions to ensure that your students can make all sessions. Class size will be limited to 24 students.
USD 108 STUDENT COST: $125.00 plus $4.00 for DE99 processing for a TOTAL $129.00 (if you are not a USD 108 student and want to attend Driver Education please call the HS for more information)
Total Payment due: Friday May 5th.
I look forward to having your student in Driver Education class. It is one of the most important skills in which they can learn. I encourage you to spend as much time as possible with your student behind the wheel. Safe operation of a motor vehicle is a life-long learned skill and takes a long time to master. Feel free to contact me at the school (785) 325-2261 or at home in the evening (785) 265-3000 if you have any questions or concerns.

I will be putting together driving groups for the students. Students will put in pairs and it will be my decision on who is together. I will make the groups up once the final class roster is set after May 5th. Pick up and drop off will be the East Doors of the High School Complex. I will however if possible, drop students off at their home. This of course depends on where the student lives, and how it may affect the schedule for the remainder of the day.
