CELEBRATING DR. SEUSS

How many of us remember reading The Cat in the Hat books?  I’m sure there are plenty of us.  The very talented Dr. Seuss – who was wise beyond words – was born on March 2.

The magical books written by Dr. Seuss held so many lessons for so many people both young and old.  Here are FIVE LIFE LESSONS from Dr. Seuss……

Five Life Lessons from Dr. Seuss

  1.  Be Yourself.  Today you are You, that is truer than true.  There is no one alive who is Your than You.
  2. Make the World Better.  Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.
  3. Never stop learning.  The more that you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.
  4. It’s about balance.  Step with care and great tact, and remember that Life’s a Great Big Balancing Act.
  5. Be positive.  Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.

To celebrate the silliness and the creativeness that was this wonderful author, we are celebrating in our elementary schools the week of February 27 to March 2.

Dr. Seuss Week

February 27 – March 2, 2017

Dr. Seuss’ birthday is Thursday, March 2.  To celebrate the wonderful world this great author opened up for all children and adults, regardless of age, Washington County Elementary School Grades K-6 will be celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America the week of February 27- March 2.

Wednesday, March 1 – Wacky Wednesday.  Let’s get silly!  All students and staff are encouraged to wear crazy clothes.  Or wear your clothes backwards, or inside out, or mismatched.  The crazier the better! Ms. O’Dea will be reading to students during library time.

Thursday, March 2 – Dr. Seuss Day.  All staff and students are encouraged to wear their pajamas and get comfy to read…. especially Dr. Seuss books!
