GOOD NEWS!
USD 108 learned last Thursday that our FREE breakfast and lunches WILL BE retroactive to the first day meals were served. For USD 108, that day was August 20. This will be an additional 14 days of free breakfast and/or lunch that your child’s lunch account will not be charged. This money will be refunded to your child’s lunch account and will stay in there until paid meals begin again in January
Please remember…. this program for free breakfasts and lunches is only good through the end of December OR whenever the USDA runs out of money, whichever comes first. When the second semester starts on January 5, 2021 (for students) meals will be charged at the child’s meal rate status (free, reduced, or full-priced). If your child is in grades K-2 and takes the snack milk on a daily basis, that money for milk will be charged to your child’s lunch account.
If your child chooses to purchase an additional entrée at lunch or to purchase Grab and Go breakfast at the JH/HS level, these items will be charged at the current price and the money taken out of your child’s lunch account.
USD 108 hopes that this additional benefit will be a way to help provide for our students in what can be an uncertain economic time.
