WCHS chemistry students recently conducted a lab investigation testing the effect of unique electrons arrangement in different elements of the periodic table on the wavelength (color) of light emitted when heated in a flame. If you look at the photo closely, you can see unique colors (gold, red, green, magenta) at each lab station. Students used their data to identify unlabeled “unknown” samples in a follow-up lab.
