Staff Appreciation Week

This is IT.  We are on the downward slide towards the last few days of this bittersweet year.  I am confident that more than a few of us wondered last August if we would be able to provide effective instruction and in-person school to our students all year long.  I know I had my doubts.

But of course, we did.  We endured a school year like no other and we did it with style, grace, and love.  Our students were so lucky they had the staff at USD 108  to care for them.  Whether it was our school nurse, our food service staff, our custodians, our teachers and paras, our bus drivers, or the administrators…..the staff approached this school year like none I have seen. Our students were cared for in a myriad of ways….and ways that I would like to continue as we transition out of a pandemic mode.

As we enter this last month of May, I want to take time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that ALL USD 108 staff showed this past year.  As usual,  National Teacher Appreciation Week  is celebrated the first week in May.  This year is no exception.  However, at USD 108 we choose to believe it takes a village to raise a child so we celebrate USD 108 STAFF Appreciation Week this first week in May.

Thanks to the WONDERFUL community support that USD 108 Washington County Schools enjoys, our staff will be able to participate in a variety of fun things this week.

The schedule of events includes:

Monday, May 3 – Citizens National Bank of Greenleaf will be providing a catered lunch.

Tuesday, May 4 – FNB of Washington will provide brownie sundaes.

Wednesday, May 5 – USD 108 Booster Club will have doughnuts for all.

Thursday, Amy 6 – United Bank & Trust of Washington will be providing a catered breakfast.

Friday, May 7 – USD 108 Board of Education will provide lunch from the Haddam Café.

If you are a part of the entities providing these wonderful treats, please know YOU are appreciated as well.

I believe USD 108 is a better staff and school system for this past year, so there ARE blessings in all things.  At times, we can grow in adversity.  I do believe we have grown this past year.  Are we perfect?  Absolutely not!  There are always areas and ways we can be and do better.  But now is a time for rejoicing and celebrating ALL that is good in education.  Please join me in reaching out to an USD 108 employee and joining in this congratulations for a school year done well.
