The results from FCCLA competitions is below. Our students did an amazing job at state FCCLA the past couple of days. We had several learning curves but I believe it will only make us stronger in the future. The freshman competed at a level against juniors and seniors due to the makeup of their team, which is difficult. No one had ever attended or competed in person at this event before, so adjusting their mindset and prior experience was challenging. And for several others, this was their first time ever competing in FCCLA. I am so proud of our students! I know they came away with several ideas, opportunities, and memories of their experience, workshops, and speakers. Drake--Repurpose and Redesign L3--Gold Rating--National Qualifier. Michaela and Tiffani -- Sports Nutrition L3--Silver Rating. Evyn Finalyason--Focus On Children L3--Silver Rating. Kori, Makenna, and Mckenzie--Professional Presentation L3 -- Silver Rating Emma Fulton--National Programs In Action L3--Bronze Rating. Washington County was recognized as an Active Chapter and District D received the Conference Image Award. Drake will travel to San Diego to compete at the National level.

Here is an example of some of the repurposing projects students in the Advanced Materials Technology class construct. This is a workbench made out of oak and a salvaged SMART board. I think it is neat to reuse electronic waste and turn it back into something useful.
