Extension agents Macy Hynek and Brooke Stamm joined us today to teach students in STEM 8 how to code robots to light up and play music when doing a variety of things.

The woodshop was lucky enough to have a generous donation from Kathleen. The students received a new Milwaukee impact/drill combo, Craftsman sander, sanding discs, and various drill bits and drivers. Kathleen is the grandmother of Grayson and Ruth. Thanks so much, Kathleen!
Regionals in Leavenworth, Boys results. Washington County placed 5th, just missing out qualifying for state but gave it all they had, and wow, was it fun to watch. we'll call it a season for now but look forward to next season and another chance to get back to state. Had an awesome bunch of kids to work with this year and couldn't be more proud of them!!!
Jon has been busy on the wood lathe making game calls. Here are his latest creations of a few duck calls he has meticulously crafted. He has taken to the wood lathe like a duck to water. Jon does an excellent job and I look forward to seeing the other game calls he turns.

The 4th grade future farmers had to check out the tractors that some of the students drove to school for FFA week.
Regional results for Washington County Girls, team places 7th over all with Shelby Laflen and Kasha Marroquin just missing the state qualifying by just 25 pins, awesome effort, looking forward to next year!
Judges are needed for speeches, acting, and readings for the WCHS Forensics Meet on Thursday, March 23rd. Even if you've never done it before, give it a try! Most people enjoy seeing students perform their pieces. Rounds start at 4:00pm, 5:30pm and 7:15pm. You can do one round or all three. If you are interested email etoole@usd108.org or just reply to this message. LOTS OF JUDGES ARE NEEDED - more than teachers alone can fill!

Art club members created mini sharpie art canvases to create or own tiny art gallery
Liam with a nice chess/checker board made out of oak and walnut. He trimmed the board out nicely with the walnut trim and did a great job finishing it naturally. Good job, Liam!
Our community and school are lucky to have some very gracious donors. A very kind man who doesn't want any recognition dropped by the woodshop with some beautiful Walnut, Ash, and Honey Locust boards. The students are already building some neat projects with the lumber.
4th graders have started fractions. Our Introduction lesson is much better with skittles. Fractions can be talked about everywhere. Exposure and discussing fractions help the learning process.
