5 members of the WCHS Forensics Team competed at the Last Chance Tournament in Abilene last night. Last Chance tournaments do not allow students to compete in events which they've already qualified for State Champs in, giving other competitors a better chance. WCHS took advantage of that and qualified in 2 more events: Laura Skupa and Kady Toole qualified in Improvised Duet Acting (IDA) and Abi Sawin and Kady qualified in Duet Acting.
Laura also placed 3rd in Impromptu Speaking. Kylee Reichers placed 4th and Abi Sawin placed 5th in Original Oration. If you would like to hear performances of these pieces join us on Thursday, April 28th at 6:30pm in the band room to hear all of our WCHS state qualifiers.

Dear parents and community members,
At the June 2021 Kansas State Board of Education meeting, Commissioner of Education Randy Watson announced the establishment of a Graduation Requirements Task Force, which include members of the State Board of Education, business leaders, curriculum directors, high school principals, counselors, teachers, KSHSAA, local boards of education and superintendents, charged with examining graduation requirements in Kansas from at least three different lenses:
Additional courses or deletion of courses required for graduation (if any).
Examination of competencies and multiple ways to show mastery of skills which allow students to move at their own pace and time.
Examination of any additional requirements in addition to the high school diploma (value-added assets such as industry recognized certificate, college credits, etc.)
Today, we’re asking for your feedback to help guide the work of this group. Another cold and windy day means another inside practice for our JH track and field athletes. Who said inside practice is boring? The kids played a very intense game of chain tag with strategic team work! They had a tough workout and they didn’t notice they were working so hard!

Last Thursday the JH Scholars Bowl Teams competed at their end of season tournament. The 7th grade team brought home first place (Sorry we forgot a pic!) and the 8th grade team went 3 and 6. Congratulations to both teams on a great season and make sure to sign up for the Infinity Brain Games and bring your parents!

The best part of Human Growth and Dev is interacting with children! We are having a blast being their “students”, playing games and other interactive activities. Thank you Miss Annie and Miss Beth!

The kids were so excited that Mr. Thompson came to say “Hi!” Before the track meet starts!
