Hayden built a neat American Flag. He learned that painting can have frustrations, but he kept at it, and it turned out well. These wall hangings are always a great addition to any room. Great job, Hayden!

Several members and parents of the WCHS FFA Chapter attended the North Central District FFA Banquet on Monday, 4/7 at Chapman High School. Students across the District were recognized for their outstanding achievement in FFA Competitions and their Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs. WCHS has three members earn their State FFA Degrees this year, Makenna Elliott, McKenzie Baker and Joseph Kern. McKenzie Baker was honored as the North Central District Star in Agribusiness this year, and will represent the NC District in the Stars Over Kansas program at the State FFA Convention in May, for a chance to earn the State Star Award. McKenzie Baker won the District Proficiency Award in Forest Management and Products, Tanner Baker was the District Winner in Vegetable Production, and Joseph Kern won the Agricultural Mechanics - Repair and Maintenance proficiency Award. Rowley Keesecker presented the FFA Creed at the Banquet, as the winner of the NCD Creed Speaking competition earlier this winter. Congratulations to our students on all their hard work!

2nd meet in the books for our Junior High Track team. Today they competed at Valley Heights in a quad style meet. This allowed for unlimited entries and kids to try new events. We came away with the 8th grade sweep, boys and girls both won the meet! 7th graders showed big improvements. Kids have tired legs and we have a bit of a break between meets, so we will NOT have practice tomorrow, Friday, April 11th. Results: http://68.234.97.3/Track/

Spring FFA is underway here at WCHS! Our Agronomy team, consisting of Jonathan Wright, Amber Kolle, Dawson Strunk, and Destyni Christenson recently placed 1st in both the Cloud County Community College Aggie Days competition and the North Central District Agronomy Event. Jonathan Wright led the event as the first place individual overall in both divisions, with all four of our team members finishing in the top ten overall. In the District Event, results were: Wright - 1st, Kolle - 3rd, Strunk - 4th, Christenson - 6th place. Congratulations Agronomy team!

Congratulations to all of our student musicians today. 7-12th grade students competed today in Choir and Band at our state level competition. Both the Choir and Band both earned Excellent ratings from all the judges in their respective categories. With this rating they showed off not only their musicality and how much they have grown and worked over the past 9 months. I will share recordings later on my personal page (Abigail J Sawin) so you can listen to Just how wonderfully they truly did!! The choir had massive improvement from the TVL event to today and I couldn't be more excited to See what this last month and a half of School will bring for them. The band had a touch of nerves in the beginning but powered through and got some great feedback from the judges and knocked their second song out of the park. So very proud to be a Tiger today and the leader of the Washington County Players and Singers.

Our band and choir will be traveling to Concordia tomorrow to compete at State Large Group competitions. We would love to have as many people come to watch and support as possible. We will be performing for Choir at the Brown Grand Theater (310 W 6th) at 9:45am. Then the band will perform at the High School auditorium (436 W 10th St) at 11:20am. Both groups perform for 3 judges, and are adjudicated on 9 different categories including Tone, Intonation, Expression, Technique, Rhythmic and Note Accuracy, Balance, Blend, and Presence. We will be back before the end of the day so bus riders and sports kids will be back in plenty of time for after school requirements.
