Mason with a painted beech wood ladder shelf. This turned out really cool and he worked hard in his spare time to complete his project. He was unable to take a woodworking course second semester due to scheduling, so I am proud of him for getting it done. Nice work, Mason!

Coy with a beautiful "Rustic-X" coffee table. The painted white bottom and stained top really make this project look awesome. Good job, Coy!

These four "arties" received 8 blue ribbons between them at the State GFWC show on Wednesday. WCHS took 28 pieces - all had received blues at the local GFWC show to be eligible. A huge thank you to Susan Graham and the rest of our local GFWC for taking our pieces and sponsoring our local show so we could be eligible. Make sure to come see these pieces and over 100 more on Monday, May 9th at the high school.

--7-12 Spring Music Concert, Monday, May 9th, 2022, 7:00 p.m. in the H.S. Gym --Parents and Music Students, The students have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming Spring Concert. The times for the students to arrive are below. Please help your student(s) with their arrival times. Because I need to tune the band instruments, I will need the H.S. Band to arrive at 6:15 and The H.S. Chorus is to be here by 6:45 p.m. to warm up in the HS Music Room. The 7th and 8th grade Vocal Classes need to be here no later than 6:55 p.m. in their assigned seat in the gym. Guitar Class should plan to come into the music room around 6:45 p.m., get their guitar, and get it set up. It should already be tuned. Please help your student get here on time to warm up as it is important we are not running into the other class times and causing the concert to start late. --I am asking that the students dress up. For the girls, this can include dresses, slacks, blouses, skirts, etc. For guys: dress shirts and ties, sweaters, slacks, khakis, etc. Please do not wear jeans unless it is a last resort. On the other hand, I do not want you to have to go out and buy anything for this concert. --HS Chorus Students–We will be having a Bake Sale again for the Spring Concert. We only have $250.00 left to raise to pay off our Choir Robes, so would like to get that accomplished at this concert. Please help by bringing 2 or 3 items for the Bake Sale. You can bring anything such as cookies, bars, cakes, pies, loaves of bread, cupcakes, and even bags with 2 or 3 cookies in them (to charge .50 cents per bag), etc. You can even bring more if you want and decorate if you want. The prettier the better!! Thanks for your help with this. --Just a reminder to all students and parents. Music class grades are based primarily on participation points and performances, such as concerts. This concert is worth 50 points toward their grade. If your child has an excused absence, such as an illness, family emergency, etc., they will be allowed to make up the points. If they just do not show up to the concert, they will not get to make up the points. Thanks so much for your help with this. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at cheuer@usd108.org or 785-325-2261 ex.1. --Cindy L. Heuer--Music Director

Washington Co. 5th & 6th Grade Elem. Band Parents, Just a reminder that the 5th & 6th Grade Elementary Music Program is on Monday, May 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Elementary Gym. We are asking that the students dress up. For the girls, this can include dresses, slacks, leggings, skirts, blouses, etc. For guys: dress shirts and ties, sweaters, slacks, khakis, etc. We prefer that the students do not wear jeans unless it is a last resort. I would like for the 6th graders to arrive in the HS Music Room not later than 6:15 a.m. so I can tune their instruments. I would like for the 5th graders to arrive no later than 6:35 and wait outside the HS Music Room door until I am ready for them. Just a reminder to all students and parents. Music class grades are based primarily on participation points and performances, such as concerts. This concert is worth 50 points toward their grade. If your child has an excused absence, such as an illness, family emergency, etc., they will be allowed to make up the points. Our 4th grade field trip started at the Great Overland Station in Topeka and our visit to see “Sue: the T-Rex exhibit”. Sue is the largest most complete T-Rex fossil ever found. It was found in South Dakota. Ask the kids what they learned and what T-Rex breath smells like! Thank you PTO for funding our trip.
