The First Grade Classroom to Careers sponsor is Dusin Enterprise. Krista visited today and taught us lots about flooring. We measured, compared the types of flooring, and discussed why different flooring is better in some rooms of our homes than others. Thank you for your time and you support!

This week WCES would like to Spotlight our 6th grade teacher Mrs. Raechel Bruna! How long have you been employed at USD 108? 7 years What do you teach/coach? 6th grade Math and Science Who inspires you? My family keeps me motivated to do my best each day. I also love the small communities that I am a part of. Hanover for family, church, school and Washington for work and helping young children see/reach their potential. What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is probably gardening, crafting, and spending time outdoors with my family and friends. We have a pond/camping area that we spend a bunch of time at on our land. What would it be if you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life? Probably Chinese food. Love General Tso's chicken and rice. What is your favorite part of the school day? My favorite part is when I get to have the Reading MTSS students and we are able to just read a book for the enjoyment of it. The kids love to read when given the time to do so.

The volleyball season ends with a hard fought loss to Frankfort in the Substate semi final match. We coaches are so proud of the all around effort of our players. Thank you seniors. It has been an honor and a privilege watching you grow and develop these past four years.

Our Tiger XC team ran well today in the 2nd largest regional in all classes across the state and the largest regional in 1A. Brody was our top finisher and missed qualifying for state by 2 places. He came in 17th, Garrison was 36th, Tucker was 48th, Lucas was 57th, Garrett was 78th, and Ryan was 79th. Atticus wasn't able to finish. Our team was 7th overall. These boys gave good effort at every meet and worked hard to push each other. This was another successful XC season for the Tigers.

Our lady Tigers showed true grit and determination at the toughest and largest 1A regional in the state. Kenzie was 2 spots off from qualifying for state. Qualifying for state doesn't make or break a season. These girls have represented themselves and our Tiger Family all season in a positive and respectful way. Today Kenzie was 17th, Kiersten was 33rd, and Charley was 67th. Our 2023 XC season was a success! Our program will miss Kiersten's positive and hardworking attitude.

Veterinary Science Class had a special visit today from K9 Deputy Dan Harlan and Bart, along with assistance from Officer Logan Woodyard, Jail Administrator/Corrections Officer from the Marshall County Sheriff's Department. The class has been learning all about dogs this past month. The extremely high level of training that an officer and his/her K9 companion must complete is one of the greatest examples of obedience training and reinforcement. Thank you both for your time today and for putting together such an excellent demonstration for our students!

Mrs. Hedke's 3rd grade class is learning the Human Body. Their vocabulary is growing each day. Today they challenged Mrs. Gano and Harley in a vocabulary game over lessons 1-3. The kids won so Mrs. Gano had to do jumping jacks. Attendance winners this 9 weeks got to eat lunch with me today, and don't tell, we may have had cookies. This week we also celebrated our 1st Math Facts Master! Keep working hard. 3rd Grade ROCKS.

WCHS FFA Greenhands attend the Greenhand Conference in Salina last month. Over 400 students from across the district took part in leadership training, team building activities and learned about leadership and personal growth opportunities available to FFA members throughout their high school experience. Additionally, the Greenhands took an FFA information test and I am proud to say that our own Tanner Baker finished as the 4th high individual in the district on the Leadership Information Exam. Way to go Tanner! I was waiting on full results before I posted this, sorry for the delay! We have a great group of Freshmen FFA members this year!
