This week WCES would like to Spotlight one of our 2nd grade teachers, Mrs. Noreen Rundle!
How long have you been employed at USD 108?
A long time! 25+ years
What do you teach/coach?
I started working in Washington Schools as a substiute teacher. After a few years of subbing, I had the opportunity to teach art half time for first grade through fourth grade. I loved teaching art and did that for about ten years. The art position grew through the years! I was teaching art for grades 1 -12 by the end of those years! The chance to teach in 4th grade classroom became available so I changed gears and took that position. For several years I moved to different grade levels, fourth grade, to 2nd grade, back to 4th and I was almost moved to 5th grade but 2 weeks before that school year I was asked to take a third grade position. After a couple years there, I was needed in 2nd again and that is where I've stayed!
Who inspires you?
My co-workers inspire me! My co-workers are working so hard to make student's lives better and provide them a great education Many of them give time beyond the classroom to work with students by coaching, teaching religious classes, leading 4H clubs and helping provide opportunities for children who need them. I admire their dedication to our students.
What is your favorite hobby?
I have many hobbies! I love cooking and baking, walking, hiking with my husband in the mountains. Sewing, piecing quilts, crafting, and even have painted a few paintings.
What would it be if you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life?
This is a hard question for me! I love eating all kinds of foods! I think I would choose, roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, with corn and green beans!
What is your favorite part of the school day?
My most favorite part of the day is greeting my students first thing in the morning! I try to be at the door of my classroom so I can greet them as they come in!
