Team members included Senior McKenzie Baker, Juniors Joree Bentz and Elin Auer, and Freshmen Madison Linck, Witt Keesecker, and Rowley Keesecker, who finished as the 10th place individual in this year's state event. The girls 4x100 relay team of Addy, Kenzie, Jesse, and Alyssa have been working hard on handoffs and ran a season best of 51.88. Nora ran a PR in the 3200 with a 15:02. Jesse tried the shot and threw a PR of 34-11. Some of the girls were asked to step out of their comfort zone today and try some new events to help the team and they did it, Madisyn and Macie in the 3200 and the 4x800 team of Nora, Saki, Madisyn and Madisyn. That is what being a team is all about. The girls team gutted it out and came away with second place team title as well. Good work!!

First grade had an eventful field trip! Students started their day learning about different animals by investigating and interacting with their skins and skulls. Ranger Rob then led the very energetic students on a journey through the Nebraska wilderness prairie exploring wildlife and plants. Students got to see deer, a beaver’s dam, and then stopped to enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature. After visiting the Homestead National Historic Park we decided to be spontaneous and stop at the Beatrice Speedway! Students got to take a leisurely ride around the track in the yellow chariot followed by a victory lap. Oh, what fun it is to be a first grader! Our last stop on this wonderful field trip was to the Beatrice Fire & Rescue Station. Students got to see into the daily life of a firefighter. The first graders enjoyed exploring the fire trucks and learning how firefighters use their gear. We now understand how important their job is. If you want to hear more about our field trip, ask a first grader. I am confident they will give this field trip a positive review!
