The WCHS Varsity Scholars Bowl Team competed in the Frankfort High School Invitational meet Tuesday, December 3. Following in the footsteps of the JV Team the previous evening, WCHS nearly ran the table in pool play, losing only the final round to Nemaha Central, to finish 7-1 in pool play, and advancing to the finals. After losing the opening round in the semi finals to St. Johns, Washington County ended the competition with a rematch win in the finals over Nemaha Central, for the 3rd Place overall finish, our first Varsity medals of the season. Congratulations!!


The WCHS JV Scholars Bowl Team competed in the Centralia High School Invitational JV meet Monday, December 2. With over 11 schools participating, WCHS finish as the 2nd place team in pool play, advancing to the finals. After losing the opening round in the semi finals to Rock Creek, the eventual champion team, Washington County ended the competition with a win in the Finals for a 3rd Place finish, our first medals of the season. Congratulations!!


The Freshmen FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team competed in the Greenhand Conduct of Chapter Meetings competition last month in Salina. The team conducted a 10 minute FFA Meeting, as well as performing the the opening and closing ceremonies for their respective Greenhand Officer Positions for the event. Gavin McClellan was recognized as the overall top Sentinel in the officer portion of the event. The team placed second in the overall parliamentary procedure demonstration, and just missed qualifying for the state event this spring. The team includes McClellan, Witt Keesecker, Rowley Keesecker, Madisyn LeDuc, Addy Oakes, Maggie Lutjemeier and Zoe Sawin. Great job!!

Washington County junior high boys took on Valley Heights tonight.A and B teams lost, but C team got the win. Learning experience for all three groups. We have to continue to improve. Good effort by a lot of boys tonight.

Miss Zoeller's 4th grade class would like to thank Jake from Pannbacker Farms for coming to visit our classroom today as our sponsor! Students learned about all the different "hats" that farmers wear.



Congratulations to these girls for breaking some WCHS volleyball records. Anna Goeckel broke the season blocking record with 70 blocks (previous record 41 blocks). Jayden Laflen broke the assist season record with 409 assists (previous record 298 assists). The season dig record was broken by Addy Goeckel with 334 digs (previous record 276 digs). Jesse Hoover broke the single match kill record with 20 kills in the September 17th match against Frankfort and the season kill record with 283 kills (previous single match record 13 kills and season record 223 kills).





Mrs. Baker's class would like to thank Rebecca Frerking for sponsoring our classroom with Washington Farm Bureau. The students made no bake pumpkin pie in a cup and learned what Farm Bureau does for our community.


November clubs concluded today for our 3rd through 6th grade students. This month students chose between making fabric pumpkins, designing balloon cars, and doing basketball drills. Thank you to Traci Turner for organizing our monthly clubs and to Bobby Smith, Steve Wright, Jenna Stevenson, Julisa Mader, Kelli Diederich, and Lainie Doll for running the different clubs.









Washington County Scholars Bowl had our first Varsity Meet in Abilene last week. The team represented WCHS very well by going 4 - 2 in the pool play, advancing to finals. We finished 4th overall to some really competitive teams with several 5A and 4A high schools in the event. Very proud of this crew and their effort!

It's a great day when the 5th grade band come to perform during Mrs. Baker's math class. The 4th graders were impressed with the ability of these band kids when they have only been in band about 15 weeks.

Monte Huckett built these wonderful functional shelves for Tiger Designs (student based business). Grayson Votipka helped with painting & staining. Today, the two installed the shelving. The class is looking forward to organizing & utilizing the shelves to make the business more efficient.
