First grade had an eventful field trip! Students started their day learning about different animals by investigating and interacting with their skins and skulls. Ranger Rob then led the very energetic students on a journey through the Nebraska wilderness prairie exploring wildlife and plants. Students got to see deer, a beaver’s dam, and then stopped to enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature.
After visiting the Homestead National Historic Park we decided to be spontaneous and stop at the Beatrice Speedway! Students got to take a leisurely ride around the track in the yellow chariot followed by a victory lap. Oh, what fun it is to be a first grader!
Our last stop on this wonderful field trip was to the Beatrice Fire & Rescue Station. Students got to see into the daily life of a firefighter. The first graders enjoyed exploring the fire trucks and learning how firefighters use their gear. We now understand how important their job is.
If you want to hear more about our field trip, ask a first grader. I am confident they will give this field trip a positive review!
