14 Washington County art students represented our school at the CCCC art day today. They attended workshops and competed in the sidewalk chalk competition plus displayed their work for showing. Congratulations to Angi and Atticus for winning best of categories- they are coming home with some nice trophies. Make sure to come up Monday night to see our art displayed at the Spring Concert.

Mrs. Baker's class spends a couple days working with geoboards in math. Geoboards work on many skills and standards: geometry with shapes, angles, area, perimeter, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills.

Congratulations to Joree Bentz for placing as the 3rd high individual in the North Central District Horse Judging Competition hosted by Cloud County Community College!

The State FFA Agronomy CDE is next week at KSU in Manhattan and WCHS FFA members are working hard to prepare for this opportunity. The NC District competition ended with the WCHS Senior Division Team placing 2nd in the event, and Jonathan Wright finishing in 2nd, Destyni Christenson - 6th, and Brianne Fincham - 8th individually. In the Greenhand Division, the WCHS Freshmen landed 4 students in the top ten individually, and placed first as a team. Dawson Strunk - 2nd, Eli Crome - 3rd, Kale Miller - 6th, and Easton Finlayson - 8th overall. Great work everyone!




Livestock Judging is coming to a close this spring, completing our 4th competition, we had some outstanding performances. Last week, at the Smith Center Livestock Judging Contest, the Washington County FFA Chapter finished as the 1st place team in the event, just 1 point ahead of St. Francis FFA. At the District Competition, the Senior and Greenhand teams placed 3rd. Colton Harlan led the way by finishing as the 2nd High Individual in the NC District Event and 7th in Smith Center. In the NC District Freshmen division, Dawson Strunk - 4th, and Jacob Elliott - 7th place. In Smith Center, Konner Chandler placed 2nd in the Greenhand division and Gatlin Willbrant finished in 10th. Jacob Elliott placed 6th in the Phillipsburg invitational, and WCHS finished as the 2nd Place Team. State Livestock Judging is next week! Great job everyone!


Washington County FFA Nursery/Landscape Team - 2024 NC District first place team! Congratulations to William Svanda who finished as the first place individual in the overall competition, winning the event by nearly 50 points over the next highest competitor. Alyssa Jueneman placed second place in the senior division, and Layla Tholstrup finished 8th. In the Greenhand Division, Tanner Baker placed 1st overall, and Cayden Meadows finished as the 3rd Place individual.




Come join us for the 5th/6th Band/Vocal Spring concert at 7:00 p.m. in the elementary gym. The kids have been working hard to make this a great concert.

Today was a gorgeous day for orienteering at Rocky Top! WCHS freshmen participated in an orienteering event hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Suther on their land near Onaga. Student tested their skills and knowledge of using compasses and native flora and fauna of northeast Kansas. The students had a great time and learned a lot!

Brayttan with the second chest he built this year, this time out of walnut. He did a fine job and I love the way walnut finishes naturally. Good job, Brayttan!


Kelly was a little shy for her project photo op so this is the best picture I have of her and her nice project. She built a modern-style nightstand and it turned out neat with the stained shelves and painted sides. Good job, Kelly!
