It was a great day with lots of talented and hardworking young artists.

Alert: HS Golf athletes and parents. Thursday, April 7th JV meet at Onaga has been cancelled.

I am one proud FCCLA adviser! Eight FCCLA students from Washington County competed in state competitions yesterday, one received district officer training, and one judged STAR events. Five of them had never prepared projects for our competitions before, several competed in advanced divisions, and none had been to a state FCCLA conference before! They learned so much by being competitors, judges, timers, runners, photographers, and voting delegates. Congratulations to everyone! Drake is headed to Nationals in San Diego!!!

Congratulations to Mr. Tim Zenger, on receiving the North Central District Honorary Degree for his outstanding service to the Kansas FFA Association and North Central District FFA! Over the past decade and beyond, Mr. Zenger, who is the current Kansas FFA Alumni and Supporters State President, has helped with a wide variety of activities and programs that the Kansas FFA and Kansas FFA Alumni and Supporters have provided for members. His involvement has included serving as an event host for countless programs, officiating district and state leadership and career development events, to preparing meals and securing funding for Greenhand Conferences and various other district events. When a hand was needed, Tim, along with the help and support of his wife Lisa and his children, Jacki, Scuyler and Shailyn, has always been more than willing to give so much of his time and and talents to make the Kansas FFA and North Central District the best it could possibly be. On behalf of the Washington County FFA and FFA Alumni Programs, we would like to say a huge "thank you!" to Tim and Lisa Zenger, and congratulate you on this honor!

5 members of the WCHS Forensics Team competed at the Last Chance Tournament in Abilene last night. Last Chance tournaments do not allow students to compete in events which they've already qualified for State Champs in, giving other competitors a better chance. WCHS took advantage of that and qualified in 2 more events: Laura Skupa and Kady Toole qualified in Improvised Duet Acting (IDA) and Abi Sawin and Kady qualified in Duet Acting.
Laura also placed 3rd in Impromptu Speaking. Kylee Reichers placed 4th and Abi Sawin placed 5th in Original Oration. If you would like to hear performances of these pieces join us on Thursday, April 28th at 6:30pm in the band room to hear all of our WCHS state qualifiers.

Dear parents and community members,
At the June 2021 Kansas State Board of Education meeting, Commissioner of Education Randy Watson announced the establishment of a Graduation Requirements Task Force, which include members of the State Board of Education, business leaders, curriculum directors, high school principals, counselors, teachers, KSHSAA, local boards of education and superintendents, charged with examining graduation requirements in Kansas from at least three different lenses:
Additional courses or deletion of courses required for graduation (if any).
Examination of competencies and multiple ways to show mastery of skills which allow students to move at their own pace and time.
Examination of any additional requirements in addition to the high school diploma (value-added assets such as industry recognized certificate, college credits, etc.)
Today, we’re asking for your feedback to help guide the work of this group. Another cold and windy day means another inside practice for our JH track and field athletes. Who said inside practice is boring? The kids played a very intense game of chain tag with strategic team work! They had a tough workout and they didn’t notice they were working so hard!
