I forgot to take the after photo, but the 7th-graders spent this afternoon clearing excess gravel from the HS parking lot, cleaning up the track complex, and clearing weeds from the beds by the Ag building. Well done kids. Everything looks great!!!

Mrs. Walters 2nd grade class had an amazing field trip. We started off at the K-State Insect Zoo and Gardens. Then we headed to Sunset Zoo and got to see many of the animals being fed. Some of the animals we saw being fed were chimpanzees, kangaroos, hyenas, emus, okapi, peccary and Mrs. Walter even got to feed the pelicans. Many students said, “This was an awesome day!”

The WCHS girls track team also had a number of PR's today at the TVL meet. Layla has been working hard on her hurdle form and continues to drop her time in the 100's. Today she ran another huge PR of 17.14!!! Anna (birthday girl) ran a PR in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.42. Kenzie ran a season best of 2:28 in the 800 and claimed the title in it. Alyssa jumped 16-6.5 in the long jump for a PR. Kenzie also PR'd in the triple jump with a 33-09 jump. Jesse had a big PR in the discus with a throw of 113. The girls 4x100 relay team of Addy, Kenzie, Jesse, and Alyssa have been working hard on handoffs and ran a season best of 51.88. Nora ran a PR in the 3200 with a 15:02. Jesse tried the shot and threw a PR of 34-11. Some of the girls were asked to step out of their comfort zone today and try some new events to help the team and they did it, Madisyn and Macie in the 3200 and the 4x800 team of Nora, Saki, Madisyn and Madisyn. That is what being a team is all about. The girls team gutted it out and came away with second place team title as well. Good work!!
