And... that's a wrap. JH XC season is complete. Both the boys and girls teams earned the Runner Up BVL plaque today. The coaches are proud of the determination of these kids. The future of XC at Washington County looks great!
On the toughest JH course our runners will compete on, our boys team showed their grit and determination! We placed 2nd as a team and was only 5 points behind first place. Lyle was our top finisher in 2nd place and Emery was 3rd place in the 8th grade division. Overall, Xander was 9th, Robert was 17th, and Carter was 21st. Lyle and Emery competed well this year as our 8th grade runners. 2nd place in the BVL as a team and individual medals is a good end to their JH career.
The countdown is on! The Band will travel tomorrow to Chapman High School to compete at Bandtober Marching Festival. This is a look at the majority of the band dressed out and ready! We will have 48 students representing Washington County in its first ever marching completion. Our final performance is scheduled tomorrow for 12:15pm. If you are able we would love to have you come and cheer on the Marching Tigers and the Ruby Reds as they perform their show "Meeting Barbie".
Our JH girls XC team competed very well in their last meet of the season. This is the toughest course we run on and the girls didn't back down. Madison was our first finisher at 6th, Aubri was 16th, Kinsley was 18th, Libby was 19th, Macy was 20th, and Cecelia was 21st. Catlynn was sick and didn't run today. Coaches appreciate the girls effort this year and the leadership of the 8th graders: Madison, Aubri, Libby, and Maci. 2nd place team in the BVL!

We had a great district wide professional development day. The day started with a poverty simulation for all staff led by Rebecca Lewis-Pankratz. In the afternoon, Rebecca Lewis-Pankratz talked to staff about her personal story of poverty and trauma, events that led her out of poverty, her current work with some of the most challenging students, and strategies our staff can use with students.

Last run of the day and our HS boys did great! There were 112 boys total in today's race. Atticus was our first finisher and just 1 place out of medals at 21st place, Garrison was 41st, Lucas was 79th, Ryan was 89th, and Garrett was 97th. Keep working hard, only 2 more guaranteed meets and we are hoping for the third as state!

Our HS girls came in with the attitude to compete with the big schools today at Riley County. Kenzie was our medalist in 14th, Nora was 44th, Addy was 62nd, and Angel was 70th. Keep working hard girls, it's paying off!

Madison medaled in 10th place 8th grade or 37th overall, Aubri was 46th, Kinsley was 54th, Libby was 60th, Maci was 62nd, and Catlynn was 63rd. One more meet to go and that's BVL on Tuesday!

Our Jh boys ran well today at the Riley County Meet. Lyle was our top finisher and medalist in 8th place for the 8th grade boys. In the 7th grade boys division, Xander was 15th and Robert was 30th. Carter and Emery were both sick today and didn't compete. Thursday is the JH's last meet. It's the BVL meet!
Another tough loss to Mankato Rock Hills 56-6. The boys are improving and getting better. I believe this was our best effort of the year.
WCHS FFA Area State Land and Homesite Evaluation was last week at Beloit, WCHS had a great day overall. Highlights from Washington County Include: 3rd Place Team - Homesite Evaluation, Witt Keesecker - 6th, Rowley Keesecker - 8th Place. 4th Place Team - Land Judging, Rowley Keesecker - 6th, Kileab Willbrant - 8th Place. Great job everyone!
Land Judging senior members of these teams that will be lost to graduation include: Kileab Willbrant, McKenzie Baker, Elin Auer, and Amber Kolle.
The Kindergarten class enjoyed visiting the Washington Fire Station this week. Thanks to Justin Svanda for a great tour! We learned a lot and had fun!
