Washington County FFA members participated in the North Central District FFA Greenhand Conference this past week. Hosted by Ell-Saline High School in Brookville, Kansas, the Greenhand Conference is geared toward first year FFA members to highlight the importance of personal leadership development, career success, and community involvement through FFA events and activities. Over 500 Greenhands from 30 high schools in the North Central District participated in the event. WCHS FFA students competed in the leadership information Test, and did extremely well, with Witt Keesecker finishing as the 2nd Place Individual, Rowley Keesecker placing 3rd, and Emma O'Rourke finishing in a tie for8th to round out the top 10 individuals in the entire event! Congratulations to all of our Greenhands for a job well done at the Greenhand Conference!

The first grade has been learning about the different systems in the body. To conclude their unit, the students had a special guest speaker (Dr. Hodgson). Then the students rotated to patient centers to diagnose and describe the body system being affected in the patient.

Mrs. Walter's second grade class has started learning about the states of matter in science. Today we did an experiment where we made a gas to blow up a balloon when combining a solid and a liquid.

Our Tiger boys XC team is a team to watch! Todays course was tough at Clay Center. They ran through the woods, up hills that gave us a total elevation gain of 109 feet, in a pasture area, and mowed off sedan fields, and some relatively flat areas. Everyone ran hard and competed well against 3-4A schools! Garrison was our top finisher and just out of medals at 35th, Atticus was 38th, Lucas was 68th, Garrett was 72nd, and Ryan was 78th. Thanks to the extra Tiger Community support this morning!

Today our high school cross country team competed at the Clay Center Invitational. We were the smallest school and all other schools were 3A-4A size. Our girls didn't shy away from the big schools. They competed right with them. Kenzie was our top finisher and medalist at 24th, Nora was 45th, Addy was 73rd, and Angel was 76th. Another successful day for our Lady Tiger Cross Country team. Thanks to the extra supporters we had today for the 9:30 start time.
